Redevelopment Update

As members have undoubtedly seen, there has been plenty of work taking place regarding the course redevelopment and layout changes. Most notably has been the construction of a new 3rd green and a new 4th tee.

“The redevelopment of the course has been split into two stages,” Course & Facilities Committee Chair, Trevor Jones said. “Stage 1 is focused on the new layout for the 3rd and 4th while Stage 2 will focus on the 7th, 8th and 9th layouts.”

So far, stage one is progressing as follows:

  • The new 3rd green has been built and irrigation has been installed, the turf is growing well,
  • The new 4th tee has been built,
  • A dozen new trees have been planted to frame the new fairways and the shaping of them while mowing has started as well.

Items to be finalised in stage one are:

  • Irrigation to the new 4th tee,
  • Completion of fairways with tree removal and,
  • Review of fencing.

“We’re projecting stage one to be completed in March 2024, all things going well,” Trevor said.

Stage two, focusing on the 7th, 8th and 9th holes will involve:

  • Merging the existing 7th and 8th holes together to make a new 360m 7th hole,
  • Relocating the existing 8th green further away from the boundary fence to create a new 8th green,
  • The existing 9th hole will become the 8th hole,
  • A new 9th tee to be built and fairway changed to bring the old 9th green back into play as a 100m Par 3.

“There are a lot more moving parts to stage two than there are in stage one,” Trevor said. “At this stage there are several factors that can alter a projected completion date but we will keep members informed as we work through things.”

Practice Green

The groundstaff have noticed there are a few bare patches of grass on the practice green, that had formed over the long weekend.

This was caused by a sprinkler malfunction over the weekend and has now been rectified.

With the sprinklers working properly again and the rain over the last couple of days, the grass will be looking great again in no time.
